Jakarta (Bisnis Indonesia: (11/01/08) Around 200.000 education institutions in the country – from elementary school to university levels - will become business entities. According to Director of Institute for Education Reform of the Paramadina University, Utomo Dananjaya, commercialization of education will be justified with the passing of the Bill on Education Institutions (RUU BHP) into law. Through the bill, the government hands over its responsibility over education to private sector.

Jakarta (Republika: (07/01/08) According to the Central Statistic Agency (BPS), there are 1.2 million unemployed persons in Indonesia that have given up hope and no longer trying to find a job. Sociologist from the University of Indonesia, Paulus Wirutomo, said on Sunday (6/1) that he was surprised learning about this figure. Moreover, they constitute around 11.98 percent of the total unemployed persons in Indonesia. “This is just a preliminary data and it should be explained what they meant with ‘no longer trying to find a job’, we need more information concerning age group, social class and how many times they have sent job application,” Paulus said.
