SWA | 29 May - 11 June 2008. We have to admit that up to now, development is still progressing without many ideas utilizing instinctive knowledge and technology (Iptek) as the main source of energy. Unmanaged creativity has created a mechanism of dependency upon foreign products. This dependency is hard to debate. Calculations of the Total Factor Productivity (TFP), which shows the involvement of technology in the production process, indicate that Indonesia’s TFP growth value in 2007 was a mere 1.38% (Bank of Indonesia, 2007). This means that the source of national economic growth is still dominated by capital factors and indicates that developments of solid capital projects are not efficient in catalyzing national economic growth.

830 Teachers and Principals of Karawang Join Teacher Training Program

A total of 830 teachers and Principals from 30 public lower secondary schools in Karawang have joined a teacher quality improvement program made possible through the collaboration of the Regional Government of Karawang, PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. and Sampoerna Foundation. The provision of the training was made official today through the signing of an MoU by Elan Merdy, Chief Operating Officer Sampoerna Foundation and the Regent of Karawang, Dadang S. Muchtar and witnessed by Hadi Fauzan, Director of Corporate Affairs and Niken Rachmad, Director of Communications PT. HM Sampoerna Tbk., at the Karawang Regent’s office today.
