Chairman:

Putera Sampoerna

Former President Commissioner of PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk. (HMS) and a number of its subsidiary companies. Mr. Sampoerna studied at the University of Houston, Texas and has always had a passion for education. He founded the Putera Sampoerna Foundation in 2001 and has been involved in philanthropic works throughout ASEAN for over 25 years. He founded and currently directs the Sampoerna Strategic Group, which has a global portfolio of diversified businesses.

Katie Sampoerna

Wife of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. She has been involved in charities and Family philanthropic activities throughout ASEAN for over 25 years. Mrs. Sampoerna has been the focal point of numerous company design initiatives for Sampoerna Family businesses as well as for Putera Sampoerna Foundation. She directed the establishment of the Sampoerna Museum in Surabaya, Indonesia.

 

Michael Joseph Sampoerna

The youngest son of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. Formerly President Director of PT. HMS and President Commissioner of a number of its subsidiary companies, Mr. Sampoerna studied at the London School of Economics (UK). Currently, he is Sampoerna Strategic’s Head of Operations and functions as President Commissioner, and President Director of its many group of companies.

 

Jonathan Bradford Sampoerna

Eldest son of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. He has studied internationally, receiving his degree in Finance at Texas A&M University, USA. He worked in Hong Kong under the guidance of Dr. Marc Faber, international investment strategist. Mr. Jonathan Sampoerna also directed the business development arms of Sampoerna Family Trading Companies.

 

Farah Khristina Sampoerna

Youngest daughter of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. She studied in Asia and the United States, receiving a degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City, USA. Initially working with a fashion house in New York, Ms. Farah Sampoerna has taken a sabbatical to raise her sons.

 

Edward Frankel

Formerly the Group Chief Operating Officer and a Director for PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk., Mr. Frankel has worked over 25 years for the Sampoerna Group of companies. He received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters in Administration from the University of Portland.

 

James P. Barnes

Mr. Barnes is the former General Counsel of PT HMS and was a member of the Board of Commissioners. He received a B.S. from Lewis and Clark College and a JD from the University of California. He worked for the Sampoerna Group of companies for over 25 years.

Jacqueline Michelle Sampoerna

Eldest daughter of Mr. Putera Sampoerna. Formerly Communications Manager at PT. Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk and Director of Sampoerna Jones Designs, Ms. Sampoerna studied internationally, receiving her B.A. in Mass Communications from St. Mary's College in California. She was "on point" with her father for all preliminary research and planning regarding Putera Sampoerna Foundation and has led the Foundation since its inception.

Bambang Sulistyo

Mr. Sulistyo is a Commissioner of PT. Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia and Commissioner of PT. Sungai Rangit. He formerly served as the Indonesian Head of Production and Country Head of Myanmar for PT. Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk. He earned his ‘Chemical Engineering degree from University of Dortmund, Germany.

 

Niken Rachmad

Ms. Rachmad is currently Director of Communication of PT PT HM Sampoerna Tbk.. Previously, she established and directed one of the first private Indonesian Public Relations firms. Ms. Rachmad graduated from the University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta with a degree in Physics and received a Diploma in Journalism from Georgetown University, Washington DC.

Ekadharmajanto Kasih

Formerly a Director of PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk., Mr. Kasih has spent over 25 years in Financial Control. He graduated from the University of Indonesia with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and currently serves as an Economics lecturer at the same university. Mr. Kasih was the CFO of PT HMS and is currently an Independent Commissioner. He also serves as an executive of Sampoerna Strategic and President Director of PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk,.

Agustinus Irawan

Mr. Irawan is a Senior Partner - Head of Transactions Advisory Services - at PT. Ernst & Young Advisory Services (an affiliate of Ernst & Young International). He received his B.S. in Accounting from De La Salle University, Philippines.

Arief Tarunakarya Surowidjojo

Mr. Surowidjojo is the founding partner of law firm Lubis, Ganie and Surowidjojo. He is a senior lecturer at the Law Faculty of University of Indonesia and one of the founders and the former chairperson of the Supervisory Board for Transparency International Indonesia. He received his bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Indonesia, and Masters in Law from the University of Washington, U.S.A.

Yos Adiguna Ginting

Mr. Ginting began his professional career at PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper Tbk. in 1997 . His career progressed thereon to the position of Vice President Trade Alliance in Singapore in 2000.  He joined PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. in April 2002 and was a Director of Human Resources before assuming his current position  as Director Corporate Affairs in 2008.  He earned his PhD in Theoretical Chemistry at University of Tasmania, Australia in 1997.

 

Eliezer Marthenny Kaeng

Presidium of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation Alumni Association (PSFAA). He received Putera Sampoerna Foundation’s overseas graduate scholarship to obtain his Master of Business Administration from the London Business School, United Kingdom. He is now working in Comexindo International Indonesia. 

 

Kemal A. Stamboel

Mr. Stamboel is the Chairman of WWF Indonesia, the Supervisory member (Oversight Committee) of BRR Aceh and Nias, and founding member of MTI (the Indonesian Society for Transparency). He also serves as Independent Commissioner at PT. Krakatau Steel, PT. Merpati Nusantara Airlines, PT. Holcim Indonesia Ltd. and PT. Titan Kimia Nusantara Ltd.  He received a Masters of Science in Business Management from the Management Institute of Arthur D. Little, USA.

Alexander Abbassi

Mr. Abbassi is currently CEO of iconcerto, a Business Process Outsourcing company. Formerly he was the Chief Information Officer of the Sampoerna Strategic Group. Prior to that he was the Director of Information Technology for American Standard Asia-Pacific and prior to that, he was with Bankers Trust New York as the Wholesale Banking System Manager. He received his B.S. degree from the State University of New York and attended MBA at Columbia University (NY).

John N. Meeks

Formerly the Director of Corporate Development for PT. HMS, Mr. Meeks worked for more than a decade in Asia and is currently Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at the McCoy Corporation based in Texas. He graduated with honors from Texas A&M University.

Nenny Soemawinata

Director
Former President Director of Indo-Ad/Ogilvy & Mather, a leading advertising agency. Followed by a career in the TV industry, leading TV stations such as Anteve, RCTI and O Channel. Ms. Soemawinata  is both a qualified trainer and a leading professional in marketing, sales and communications. She graduated computer programming from the Auckland Technical Institute, New-Zealand.

Elan Merdy

Chief Operating Officer (Corporate Affairs)
Formerly Manager of the Business and Financial Consulting Division at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting, Mr. Merdy received his B.S. from Philippines School of Business and MBA from De La Salle University, Philippines.

Stefanus Aryawan

Chief Financial Officer
Formerly an Associate Manager at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and a Program Manager at PT. Bank International Indonesia Tbk (BII), Mr. Aryawan received his B.S. in Marketing from Boston College, Massachusetts.

Vira Soekardiman

Director of Sales
Formerly the Corporate Director of Marketing & Sales at Coldwell Banker Indonesia, and Head of Global Commercial Cards at American Express Bank Ltd, Ms. Soekardiman has over 18 years of experience in marketing and sales in various organizations in Indonesia and the region. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA.

Rini Tampi

Programs and Alumni Affairs Director
Formerly a General Manager at PT Matahari Putra Prima, a leading department store in Indonesia, Ms. Tampi obtained her bachelor degree in Finance from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA and her MBA degree in Banking from Golden Gate University, USA.

Eddy F. Henry

Programs Director
Formerly CEO of a software company, Mr. Henry obtained his bachelor (honors) degree from Trent University, Canada in Mathematics and Computer Studies. He is currently the chairperson of the United World Colleges (UWC) National Committee for Indonesia, and a member of International Baccalaureate Office (IBO) Asia-Pacific Regional Advisory Committee.

Amir Sjarifuddin

Head of Internal Audit
Mr. Sjarifuddin was formerly the Chief of Internal Audit at PT HM. Sampoerna Tbk. where he was employed from 1992 to 2005. He has extensive experience in conducting audit for both finance and operations.  Prior to joining PT HM. Sampoerna Tbk. he was a management consultant with Touche Ross Darmawan and handled various auditing projects including developing internal audit manual, leading management audit, and running internal audit workshops -- mostly for State-owned Enterprises on agriculture. He is an Accountant graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University Indonesia.

Paulina Pannen

Dean of Sampoerna School of Education
Ms. Pannen is a professor of instructional technology receiving her graduate education from Syracuse University in the field of educational technology. Prior to her deanship, she has been a faculty member of Universitas Terbuka and Director of SEAMEO Southeast Asia Regional Open and Distance Learning Center. She actively involves in various quality improvement activities for teacher education including in scholarly journal writings and speaking at various national as well as international education forum.

Kenneth Cock

Director of Teacher Institute
Formerly the executive principal of one of Indonesia’s leading private schools, Sekolah Global Jaya, Mr. Cock has worked in the field of school education for more than 30 years including positions in Australia. He has a B.S. in Chemistry and Microbiology from Adelaide University and a post graduate degree in Teaching and Educational Administration from University of South Australia.


Agung Binantoro

Project Director Sampoerna School of Business
Formerly a Senior Program Manager at PT Bank International Indonesia Tbk, Mr. Binantoro started his career at KPMG Consulting (Utrecht, the Netherlands) and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting (Jakarta, Indonesia). Mr. Binantoro obtained his B.Sc, majoring in Industrial Engineering from University of Indonesia and his MBA from University of Leuven, Belgium.
