GADIS Magazine: “SF Not Associated to Cigarette”

Gadis Magazine No. 10 (34th edition for 14-24 April 2006) had written positive commentary about Sampoerna Foundation. According to Gadis, Sampoerna Foundation is not associated with the cigarette company.

This report was positively responded by Sampoerna Foundation Communication Director, Mr. Sapto H. Sakti. “This commentary is very encouraging for Sampoerna Foundation and it is a good movement in order to spread the information continuously to public that we are definitely independent. Thank you Gadis!”, said Sapto.

Below is the comprehensive coverage:

Help Our Friends!

There are only 31,87% Indonesian at student-age who are able to graduate from elementary school (SD), 20,12% able to graduate from Junior High School (SMP), 3,72% able to graduate from High School (SMU), and only 3.58% that are able to experience studying at University or Academy. In the mean time, 8,98% Indonesian adolescents have never experienced schooling.
The reasons are: 67% lacking the education finances, 8,7% children at age 7-18 years old must work to help their parents to fulfill their daily/basic needs. All the data was obtained from Central Bureau of Statistics Year 2003 and 2004.

Based on these data, our friends from Bina Nusantara School, were interested in participating Student Help Student program which was launched by Sampoerna Foundation (In fact, this foundation is not associated at all with the cigarette company! It is only the name that is precisely identical).

This program can be supported by all students, including us! It is really easy to participate in this program. We only need to segregate our pocket money Rp.30.000/month (to help one younger sister/brother who still study in elementary school (SD)), Rp.42.500/month (to help one friend in Junior High School level (SMP)), and Rp.60.000/month (to help one friend in Senior High School level (SMU)).

Or else, we also can participate by buying various kinds of merchandise from Rp.10.000 up to Rp.70.000, which are produced by Sampoerna Foundation for this program. Come and join us to help our friends who are less fortunate so they can study at schools like us. Spare some of our pocket money for those who need it more. To us it may seem little, but to them it means a lot.
