Yayasan Sahabat Wanita

From PSF’s platform of education, and at the behest of one of its patrons ‐‐ Ms. Katie Sampoerna ‐‐ a newly formed sister “Yayasan Sahabat Wanita” (Friends of Women Foundation) was established to champion gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s welfare.



Mission:

1. To carry out fund raising activities.
2. To provide existing cooperatives of women support and advisory services. 
3. To establish the infrastructure for a National, independent, and member‐owned organization called “Koperasi Sahabat Wanita” (Friends of Women Credit Union).  
4. To take Koperasi Sahabat Wanita under its wing, and as advocates,
   
   • Provide it advisory and support services in the organization and management of its operations of programs and community centers.
   • Provide it program material and software towards:
     
     • The promotion of social welfare through community skills development,
     • Raising the basic Literacy skills of its members
     • Providing vocational and life skills training and development to raise the standards of their members
     • Women’s Empowerment Programs
     • Education in healthcare and general hygiene,
     • Family planning,
     • The protection of women’s rights,
   • Assist this cooperative to forge Bapak‐Angkat partnerships with private sector micro‐banking enterprises.
   • To assist them in the raising of seed capital grants and soft‐loans from both local and foreign NGOs in order for them to expand the scope of their initiatives with the goal of one day becoming a self‐reliant credit union with self‐revolving resources.
5. To invite other existing women cooperatives to join into the Koperasi Sahabat Wanita. That is, the establishment of critical mass and the power in numbers.
