Condolences for Java Tsunami Victims

java tsunami pic1The entire big family of Sampoerna Foundation would like to express our deepest condolences for the victims of the Java tsunami that struck off the Pangandaran's resort on Monday (17/07).

At least 42,000 people were reported to have been displaced, either because their homes were destroyed or because they feared another tsunami and until now, more than 300 dead bodies have been found near the residential area.

Nonetheless, we are truly grateful that our 130 scholarship recipients in Pangandaran are reportedly safe and well. In total, the Foundation has 3 elementary scholars, 9 junior high school scholars and 118 high school scholars in the devastated areas. Since yesterday (18/07), several members of Sampoerna Foundation Scholars Club from Bandung had volunteered to represent the Foundation in finding more accurate information about our scholars and assist in the rescue efforts.
