Jakarta (Indo Pos: 03/08/06) Entrepreneurs will have more options to improve their business skill. For the first time in the history of education in Indonesia, a technology-based university – funded by Sampoerna Foundation – will open an MBA executive program. This program will begin next year.
Bandung Institute of Technology, one of five universities with State-owned Legal Entity (BHMN) status is working together with the charity foundation to establish the Sampoerna Scholl of Business and Management (SSBM ITB).The goal is quite simple: preventing young potentials from learning overseas. “Our youth will not need to travel overseas to continue their study if we are capable to provide a higher education with good quality,” explained Suma Tjahja Djajadiningrat, the dean of SSBM ITB to Indo Pos in Jakarta recently. Moreover, we also want Indonesian higher education of masters’ degree to be able to compete in the international market, accommodating students both from Indonesia and overseas. The most interesting is the fee students have to pay will be donated for ITB’s scholarship program for its undergraduates (S-1). “Yes, 20% of the tuition fee! Because the applicants should have a 2-year experience in managerial level," said Naya –Suma Tjahja affectionate nickname - without mentioning the figure. Naya explained that there are many cases in the business world that young managers have not understood. “They do not know what is Corporate Social Responsibility or responsibility towards social environment; (therefore) they could not give an equally sound decision with their fellows from international community. They still need to learn more," said Naya.
Therefore, ahead of the new academic year, SSBM ITB has held a seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility. “The new academic year will start in the beginning of February 2007,” he stated. |
