| SF donates Rp 47.6 billion for High Schools |

Jakarta (Bisnis Indonesia: 23/08/06) PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. has given Rp. 47.6 billion to Sampoerna Foundation in fulfillment of its commitment to advance the education sector in Indonesia.
President Director PT HM Sampoerna Tbk., Martin G. King, has symbolically handed the funds to Chief Operating Officer Sampoerna Foundation, Elan Merdy, at the Sampoerna Strategic Center in Jakarta yesterday.“The HMS donation in 2006 will be focused on running the SF-United School Program at five State Senior High Schools in East Java and Yogyakarta,” said Martin. He said the funds channeled through the SF would be allocated for reconstructing schools damaged by the recent earthquake in Yogyakarta as well.The five State Senior High Schools that get the assistance are SMAN 10 High School in Malang, SMAN 1 in Pandaan-Pasuruan, SMAN 13 in Surabaya, SMAN 19 in Surabaya, and SMAN 1 Pundong in Yogyakarta. “Indonesian children have the potential for advancement because they have a strong will to learn if they get the proper guidance and the support of an improved learning and teaching process,” he added.
At the occasion, Elan Merdy said the funds make it possible for Sampoerna Foundation to expand its activities to help developing education in Indonesia. Through the SF United School Program, these schools are expected to become exemplary schools that produce quality students. |
