During this two-day visit, 35 students, accompanied by 2 professors, heard explanations about the marketing and communication activities of Sampoerna Foundation (SF) in its efforts to support its programs for increasing access to and improving the quality of education in Indonesia.

Hendri B. Satrio (Public Relations) began the explanation of the work environment at SF, with further presentations made by: Citra I. Lestari and Siti Anisah (Media Relations), Marta Yuliana and Dennis Lischer (Publication), Liza Amelia (Events) and Amadea Risa Hardigaloeh (Outreach). Each department explained the various roles of the different divisions in relation to improving access to education in Indonesia and upgrading quality in the education sector through the programs at SF.

During the presentations and discussions, the SF team emphasized that the marketing and communication activities undertaken at were different from those types of activities at private sector corporations. ”Even though the name of the department is Marketing, the goal of marketing at SF is not to sell goods for a profit, but rather to invite other parties to become partners with SF in its efforts to implement its access and quality improvement programs in education in  Indonesia,” Amadea clarified during her presentation. The same is true of communication activities at SF, either in connection with media relations, publications, and even the organizing of events. All communication activities are directed at increasing the awareness and concern for education among people from all sectors and walks of life in order to motivate them to participate actively in the efforts toward improving education in Indonesia.

“We are delighted to be able to share information about the work world in SF with our friends from Paramadina University. Hopefully this will provide the students with useful information and new experiences in order to expand their horizons concerning the work of non-profit organizations,” said Hendri. ”We hope to be an inspiration to our new friends so that they will become interested in involving themselves with the work of non-profit organization’s like ours in the future,” Hendri added.
