| Q2 SFSC National Social Activity |
|
As each Sampoerna Foundation Scholars Club (SFSC) does every quarter, this quarter’s social activities were organized again from June 12 through 26th in cooperation with the Ubud Writers community, and was aimed at creating awareness on the important skills of reading and writing in both the academic and business world. This time the event was organized on a national scope, creating a wave-like effect that swept through six cities beginning with Jakarta, Aceh, then concurrently in Yogja and Surabaya, Bandung and finally Semarang. Future social activities falling on the 2nd and 4th quarters will be carried out in similar fashion.
With the uniform theme of “Creating Future Writers”, the social activities held at each of the six cities were aimed at inducing a reading and writing habit amongst participants, particularly Sampoerna Foundation scholars. They comprised of three workshop sessions spanned over two days. Two workshops on writing were presented by well-known writers, while one script writing workshop was delivered by Agung Sentausa, director of the movie “Garasi”. As an added highpoint, a writing competition was incorporated in the “Creating Future Writers” event, giving participant the opportunity to submit work for two categories: Narative Writing and Movie Script Writing. Having reviewed all entries for the Creating Future Writers Competition, SF is proud to announce the following winners:
