Education Assessment in Seram with CITIC

CITIC, the biggest oil company operating in the district of East Seram, has shown its serious commitment to invest in human resources and develop local resources. CITIC’s representative together with the Regent of East Seram and Head of Education Department invited Sampoerna Foundation from 31 July – 5 August to conduct a comprehensive assessment on education and to map the current East Seram’s education conditions in order to give practical suggestions and strategies for improvement in Bula where CITIC operates.

The company is committed in developing and maintaining positive relationship with the community through the delivery of sustainable education quality improvement. Over the past few years, under the former flag, the company has invested in a range of social, economic as well as education programs. Through collaboration with the Regent of East Seram, it was identified that the future support from the CITIC will be focused on the quality development of teaching and education leadership.

Sampoerna Foundation had the chance to assess the schooling process in two elementary schools, two junior high schools and one high school. The assessment activity has come out with the vision that the education in East Seram still needs further development to provide the standard quality of human resources in this particular area.
