SF Scholar Honored for Excellence at Stanford
Click to see real sizeIt is always an important moment in the year when the another batch of scholars make it through the SF scholarship selection process and head to first-class institutions in the far corners of the world. But when these scholars awarded special recognition for their outstanding performance for excelling academically at those institutions, the Foundation has even more reason to celebrate. Such an accomplishment was made recently by Derianto Kusuma, a Sampoerna Foundation Scholar, Major in Computer Science, 2006 Intake, currently in his Freshmen year at Stanford University. On August 20, 2007 Derianto received news from the President of Standford University, Mr. John L. Hennessy, informing him of his selection to receive the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. The award honors students who achieved outstanding academic performance in their freshman year and demonstrated a strong commitment to the pursuit of knowledge. The award will be presented to the recipients at the Sophmore Celebration on September 3rd, 2007 in Dinkelspiel Auditorium. Each year about 1,600 freshmen and 80 transfer students are admitted to this leading research and teaching institution, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, between San Francisco and San Jose, California. The university has around 17,741 students in total.
