Senayan City and Sampoerna Foundation: A Movement for the Future

Jakarta, September 2007. Sampoerna Foundation in cooperation with City is holding an Exhibition Charity Club event themed “A Movement for the Future,” from September 1-16, in the Atrium Promenade at Senayan City, Jakarta. Besides Sampoerna Foundation, this event is also being participated in by: WWF, Green Peace, Hope World, Unicef and Solar.

Sampoerna Foundation, a charitable institution that pays special attention to access to quality education in Indonesia has an Education Awareness Booth with the theme “United for Education” and will be presenting the performance “Percussion for Education” at the Exhibition Charity Club. “We hope that through this Education Awareness Booth, we can inform the public about the current condition of education in Indonesia and invite them to become involved in assisting the improvement of the education sector in Indonesia,” Rizal Algamar, Outreach Manager for Sampoerna Foundation, said.

Department of National Education data for 2005-2006 indicates that 13,204,474 of the total of 52,989,800 children aged 7-18 cannot afford to go to school. “Hopefully, this program will help make people more aware of the need to work together to improve education in Indonesia,” Rizal added.

Sampoerna Foundation is open to cooperating with anyone with a similar vision and mission for education in Indonesia. “We are delighted to be able to work with Senayan City in holding this event. Sampoerna Foundation is open to partnerships with anyone in the effort to increase access to and upgrade the quality of education in Indonesia,” said Rizal.
