| 70 Students receive scholarships |
| Jakarta (Media Indonesia: (18/11/07) The Astro Asih and Usaha Tegas Group in cooperation with the Sampoerna Foundation handed scholarships for 70 students of state senior high school SMAN 4 Denpasar, Bali, with the amount of US$1.5 million or Rp13.5 billion The Astro Asih scholarship program will be disbursed in stages for students of 5 different years comprising of 725 senior high school students in four regencies and 160 under graduate students from Bali who study in several universities in Indonesia. The first stage is handed to 70 students of state senior high school SMAN 4 Denpasar, yesterday. Astro Entertainment Executive Director Zainir Aminullah, Sampoerna Foundation Chief operating Officer Elan Merdy, as well as a number of official from the provincial administration and members of SMAN 4 Denpasar extended family attended the ceremony yesterday. Several other schools in the regencies of Buleleng, Klungkung, Bangli, and Karangasem also receive Astro scholarships. Bali Governor Assistance II, I Wayan Subagiarta said these four regencies were selected because those are poor regions but their students have good academic achievement and they manage to compete with students from other regencies in Bali. |
