Bandung (Pikiran Rakyat: (11/12/07) Up to now, many teenagers do not have any means of self -expression. However, as the people are getting more familiar with technology and its application is becoming more affordable, film can serve as a means to share. This issue was disclosed by Kampung Halaman program manager Dian Herdiany and Sampoerna Foundation Communication Director, Sapto H. Sakti during the ‘creating movie-makers’ workshop at the Widyatama University last week.
Dian explained many teenagers have to be represented by adults or film-makers in expressing their opinion. However, he believes that film could serve as a means of the youngsters to convey their plights and opinion. "The youth are enthusiastic because film enables them to speak, to complain and to express their opinion,” Dian said.
Sapto believes that film is a powerful media. Now, as people are getting more familiar with technology and its application is getting easier and more affordable, audio visual media like film is getting more attractive. Therefore, film can be an effective communication media. Unfortunately, Sapto as well as Dian had seen many negative impacts, with students in Indonesia accessing pornography through the internet. “When we enter a website and talking about schools in Indonesia, we got porn videos. Eventually, our school videos concerning education are listed among porn videos," he said. |
