Nenden Novianti Fathiastuti is a young Indonesian professional with extensive experience in government communications and journalism. Working as a Communications Specialist at the Asian Development Bank - Office of Vice Minister of Ministry of Transportation Government of Indonesia, Nenden wanted to continue her tertiary education in the Unites States in order to expand her knowledge and worldview. Her ultimate goal is to help make a change in Indonesia with her communication skills, especially through social media and internet. With step-by-step assistance from ACCESS Education’s University Counselor, Nenden applied for a Master’s degree scholarship to Ohio University’s Communications and Development Studies program with an emphasis on campaign design for Fall 2011 enrollment. Since opening its doors in late 2010, ACCESS Education Beyond has worked closely with Nenden through strategic preparation and programming to maximize her admission potential. ACCESS Education has assisted Nenden in preparing her application by providing services such as intensive strategic consultation, review of completed application forms, and admissions and scholarship essay consulting. Bringing commendable academic and professionals achievements to the table, Nenden successfully obtained a full tuition scholarship amounting to $30,000 per year from Ohio University in April of 2011. As many previous Indonesian scholars who studied at Ohio University have, Nenden would also like to apply what she will learn at Ohio University to her professional work in Indonesia. With her previous experiences, networks and high enthusiasm, Nenden is excited to contribute to the Putera Sampoerna Foundation’s “Pathway to Leaderhsip” grand strategy, which aims to develop 1,000 new leaders for Indonesia each year.
