The development of Indonesia highly depends on improvements in the quality of its education, but the statistics paint a grim picture. Only 53 percent of the nation’s educators meet standard requirements, and 20 percent of classrooms in Indonesia are in poor condition (Ministry of Education, 2009). In education spending, Indonesia even ranks 127th from 182 countries, according to the World Bank (2009). The mission of PSF-School Development Outreach is to advance the standard and quality of schools and individuals to help Indonesia face global challenges. The PSF-School Development Outreach offers both innovative and progressive educational programs with assured quality, which is manifested by the track record and experience of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation in development training since 2005. The PSF-School Development Outreach offers three programs for individual educators and schools: School Development Program Professional Development Program Education Recovery Program With assistance from corporate donations and partnerships programs, the School Development Outreach offers a range of professional development programs for educators, principals and administrators. The program helps schools meet international standard in regards to curriculum, teaching and management, and also assists in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of physical facilities, particularly in the wake of natural disasters. |
