During the first quarter of 2011, Sahabat Wanita realized a milestoneachievement. More than 2,508 members have now joined Sahabat Wanita within the areas of Muara Angke (North Jakarta), Kabupaten Tangerang & Kota Tangerang Selatan, Tulungagung and Malang. More than 172 warungs (small shops) are now members of Koperasi Sahabat Wanita’s Retail and Distribution program. Meanwhile Koperasi Sahabat Wanita has extended its program to encompass agricultural businesses, with more than 50 farmers in Mekarwangi Tangerang joining the program. Yayasan Sahabat Wanita has conducted regular training workshops in these locations, on topics ranging from health to entrepreneurship. YSW continues to develop training modules with partners in order to suit our women’s needs. Sahabat Wanita’s next target is to recruit 15,000 members by the end of 2011.
